What is Fibrous Casing?
Fibrous casing is a cellulose-based casing strengthened with natural long-fibered abaca paper (manila hemp fibre), combining exceptionally high tensile strength with consistent extrusion properties. Due to its strength and dimensional stability, fibrous casing is one of the most versatile and comprehensive sausage packaging materials available, offered in over 80 different calibers and around 20 standard and custom colours.
Types of Fibrous Casing We Offer
- Fibrous ST (Standard) — the workhorse casing with the world's most comprehensive range of calibers; used for cooked, smoked, semi-dry and dry sausages, ham products, smoked cheese and sliced applications.
- Fibrous Max — pre-stretched for a maximized dry flat width, allowing a larger stuffing-tube diameter for higher stuffing speed, better yields and reduced machine wear.
- Fibrous Super Protect — engineered for white-mould salamis (Winter Salami, Hungarian Salami, Rossette) where standard fibrous casing would otherwise be attacked by mould-produced cellulase enzymes.
- Fibrous Glide, Xtreme, XL & Brilliant — specialised constructions for enhanced gliding/machinability, extra-large diameters, and a glossy, presentation-focused finish respectively.
- Fibrous FLX, CRF & Preserve — additional tailor-made constructions covering flexible, controlled-release and extended-mould-protection applications.
Fibrous casing is also offered in two constructions — SVC (viscose-coated on the outside, for a shinier look and strong meat-cling) and DVC (viscose-coated on both sides, for a matte finish, high adhesion control and better machinability) — so the right casing can be matched to the right sausage presentation.
